Antivirus software

When you connect your own PC to the University network, you are required to install antivirus software. The IMC provides antivirus software for campus use. You are strongly recommended to use this service.

As of Jan. 2020, SEP 14.2.2 is the latest version.

Use of antivirus software

The Information and Media Center provides the following types of antivirus software.

Symantec Endpoint Protection (Symantec Corp.)

We have joined Symantec Corporation’s Academic Subscription Program.
TUT signs on with Symantec every year based on the number of the students and faculty/staff members enrolled.


Eligibility for use

  • The faculty/staff members and students enrolled in the University are eligible to use this service.
  • Be sure to uninstall the antivirus software once you leave the University due to resignation/retirement, transfer, graduation, completion or expulsion.
  • Upon termination of our Academic Subscription Program agreement with Symantec, all the users must uninstall the software.

Restricted installation

  • University owned PCs (unlimited number)
  • Each faculty/staff member is allowed to install the software on one PC at home.
  • Each student is allowed to install the software on one PC for personal use.

Be sure to use the software properly, or we will be sued for breach of contract.

  • Windows 8.1/10
  • Windows Server 2012/2016/2019
    Note: It is prohibited to connect Windows XP, Windows VISTA, Windows 7, Windows 8 Windows Server 2003 or Windows Server 2008 to the University network due to the termination of their product support.
  • Linux (RedHat/SuSE/Novell/Ubuntu/Debian/Oracle/CentOS/Fedora)
  • The 32-bit and 64-bit OS version of Windows and Linux are supported.
  • Mac OS X 10.8,10.9, 10.10, 10.11
